LEIBISH PROFESSIONAL APPRAISALS

LEIBISH understands the importance of purchasing a diamond, coloured gemstone or piece of fine jewellery.

Upon request, LEIBISH will provide a professional appraisal report for eligible LEIBISH items purchased through Italian Luxury Group at no additional charge.

The appraisal report is prepared and signed by a LEIBISH appraiser who holds a Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America.

Customers requiring an appraisal report should request it from Italian Luxury Group before the order is dispatched.

Purpose of the appraisal

The appraisal provides an estimate of the item’s approximate retail replacement value as at the date of the report.

It may assist the customer when applying for jewellery insurance or for other personal record-keeping purposes. However, acceptance of the appraisal, the insured value and the terms of any insurance coverage remain subject to the independent requirements and assessment of the relevant insurer.

The stated retail replacement value:

  • is an estimate rather than a guaranteed resale value;

  • may differ from the price paid for the item;

  • does not represent a guaranteed future market value;

  • may change over time due to movements in gemstone, precious-metal, currency and retail-market conditions; and

  • should not be interpreted as an offer by LEIBISH or Italian Luxury Group to purchase or resell the item at the stated value.

Information included in the report

Depending on the item, the appraisal report may include:

  • an accurate description of the diamond, gemstone or jewellery item;

  • the stone’s colour, clarity and carat weight;

  • the shape and cutting style of the stone;

  • the precious metal and type of setting, where applicable;

  • details of any accompanying independent laboratory report;

  • the issuing laboratory, which may include GIA, IGI, HRD, AGS or another recognised laboratory, where applicable;

  • the laboratory report number, where available; and

  • the approximate retail replacement value as at the date of appraisal.

Laboratory reports and appraisals

A professional appraisal is separate from an independent laboratory grading report.

A grading report records the identifying and quality characteristics of a diamond or gemstone. An appraisal provides an opinion of approximate retail replacement value.

Not every item is accompanied by an independent laboratory report. Where one applies, its details will be stated in the product information or appraisal documentation.

Natural colour representation

Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable product description or documentation, LEIBISH represents that the coloured diamonds and gemstones covered by the appraisal are natural and that any known treatment, enhancement or laboratory-grown origin will be disclosed.

Important limitations

The appraisal reflects the appraiser’s opinion based on the item, available supporting documentation and market conditions at the date of assessment.

Neither LEIBISH nor Italian Luxury Group guarantees that:

  • an insurer will accept the appraisal;

  • the item can be sold for the stated replacement value;

  • the item’s market value will remain unchanged; or

  • the appraisal can be used for taxation, probate, matrimonial, legal or investment purposes.

Customers requiring an appraisal for a specific legal, taxation, estate, finance or insurance purpose should obtain independent professional advice.
